Professor of Sociology and Philosophy at the Donetsk State University of Management, Ukraine.
He is an author of 74 articles. He published the books: Civil Society and national Idea (Kyiv, 1999). Welfare State and Civil Society: Collaboration Versus Opposition (Kyiv, 2008). Social dimensions of Civil Society: Central European Version (Donetsk, 2012). His academic interests include social and cultural aspects of post-soviet transformation, post-colonialism, political theory of recognition, civil society, social reconstruction and modernization, interrelation between sacral and secular, as well as identity changes in Ukrainian society.
From 1993 to 1997 he was a post-graduate student at the Institute of Philosophy, the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, Kyiv, where he received his Ph.D.degree. In 2005–2007 he was a visiting fellow at The Council For Research in Values And Philosophy, Washington, USA. From 2005 to 2008 he was post-doc at the Kyiv State University, where he received his Doc.Hab. He was a visiting Professor of Philosophy and Sociology in Poznan Adam Mickiewicz University (2010, 2012).
