The Fulbright Program in Ukraine is pleased to invite you to a talk by U.S. Fulbright Specialist Ben Moses «Truth to Power: The Importance of an Independent Press for a Successful Democracy», to be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at the Fulbright Office, 20 Esplanadna Street, Suite 904, Kyiv, m «Palats Sportu».
Ben Moses’s television and motion picture career span four decades in Hollywood and New York. While he is best known as the creator and co-producer of the movie «Good Morning, Vietnam», his hundreds of productions range from live news specials, documentary programs and TV movies, musical-variety specials and even network game shows. His work has won many awards, including Emmys and an Oscar nomination.
In 2016 he completed the 90‐minute documentary Witness to a Revolution, a story that ignited when, in November 2013, he got off a plane in Kyiv, Ukraine, to discover he had arrived at the beginning of that country’s Revolution of Dignity. Standing among nearly a million protestors in the city’s central square, he began filming…and continued for 18 months. The film documents events before, during and after the revolution and reveals the arc of a people’s discontent that leads beyond the bloody overthrow of a regime to the more intractable problem of creating a new political and cultural paradigm in this post-Soviet country.
For 14 years he taught courses in motion picture and TV production and documentary production at the University of California Los Angeles, and he has lectured on these subjects in universities across North America and Europe.
As a Fulbright specialist, Ben Moses will teach in Ukraine for six weeks in early 2018. The event will be conducted in English.
